FPEN.Org is a website created to facilitate communication among family physicians and other primary health care providers in order to help support the quality of care we provide to the community, especially the rural community.
FPEN.Org began as a name given to a computer which supported Fam-Med, an internet discussion list focused on the use of information technology in Family Practice. Fam-Med's purpose was to help facilitate communication among family physicians from around the world who were attempting to incorporate information technology in their practice. It was started in November of 1990 and has been operational ever since. More recently FPEN.Org has expanded to allow others to start and manage their own discussion lists that are consistent with the goals of this site.
FPEN.Org charges no one for its services and has been a project made possible by the good will of several individuals and institutions.
